“My Beverly Hills” aims to be your online resource to get to know YOUR CITY. Every month we will feature a Beverly Hills Resident that is making an impact in our community. We are kicking off this monthly series with our lovely new Beverly Hills Mayor, Lili Bosse. My Beverly Hills sat down with Mayor Bosse to talk about her “HEALTHY CITY” initiative and how YOU can also get more involved.
MEET YOUR MAYOR! Interview with Mayor Lili Bosse
How long have you lived in Beverly Hills? Coming from Queens, NY, my parents and I moved to Beverly Hills when I was a little girl. Our first home here was a small apartment on South Rexford Drive. I have lived in BH for 43 years.
What is your “Healthy City” Initiative all about? I want Beverly Hills to be the HEALTHIEST CITY in the WORLD. THAT is my GOAL as Mayor and for our SECOND CENTURY. HEALTHY PEOPLE… HEALTHY ECONOMY… HEALTHY GOVERNMENT. We will have weekly “Walk with the Mayor” Mondays and will be sponsoring “Lunch and Learn” Sessions featuring local experts in medicine, exercise and healthy living. To support our local businesses, at EVERY City Council meeting, we will be giving a local business a “SIXTY SECOND SHOUT OUT”. As part of our Healthy City Initiative, we will be launching an aggressive effort to increase citizen participation and improve our communication. We just launched a new city phone number that can be used to text in service requests, questions and comments to the city. It’s called TEXT BH and the number is 310-596-4265.
What is your favorite thing about Beverly Hills? My favorite thing about BH is that we are a world famous city known for class, sophistication, style and we also have a small town feeling between those of us who live here and work here. We are a city with heart that values our quality of life, have the best safety services, quality school system and best of the best business community. We are a unique community that will continue to lead the way to be visionaries of all things possible for our future.
Do you have a favorite restaurant in Beverly Hills? If yes, what is it and why? My favorite restaurant in BH is Matsuhisa. Nobu Matsuhisa opened his restaurant on La Cienega 25 years ago at the exact same location. I love sushi and he was a visionary before his time.
Do you know of a Beverly Hills gem? BH gem is Veterinarian, Dr. John Winters at Beverly Hills Small Animal Hospital which has been at its location since 1932. Dr. Winters has been the vet there since 1976 (for 38 years!). Dr. Winters and BH Small Animal Hospital provides the small town family care, that feels intimate with the quality care that we love about Beverly Hills.
What is your favorite thing to do in the city? My favorite thing to do in BH is The Walk with the Mayor. There is nothing better than starting each week on a Monday with residents, business owners, kids, pets, as we walk around our beloved city discussing issues, hearing new ideas all the while meeting new people and getting healthy doing it. Monday is now my most favorite day of the week! We meet in front of City Hall. WALK WITH ME EVERY MONDAY at 8:30am!
What advice do you want to give other Beverly Hills residents? Get involved! We are a very warm community that is welcoming and open close knit. Our city has everything anyone could ever ask for… best business community with the greatest stores and restaurants for every taste and mood, finest police and fire dept in the world, quality schools, great theatre with the opening of the amazing “Wallis”, fantastic parks, state of the art library, beautiful neighborhoods and so much more. Embrace it all with open arms and passion!
