Nate’n Al’s

Nate’n Al’s is the quintessential Beverly Hills deli, serving customers for over 70 years. Back in 1945, their doors opened on North Beverly Drive bringing the best deli favorites and more. From Matzo ball soup to hearty pastrami sandwiches, Nate’n Al’s has it all! Not to mention their warm and fluffy handmade blintzes for a sweet treat.

When Nate’n Als first opened they had enough room for about 30 customers. Following their immediate success, they later expanded to their current 120 capacity. While Nate retired shortly after their grand opening, Al’s relatives are still maintaining the deli to this day.

Fun Fact! According to this Nate’n Al’s Article, reported that they have served up 130,000 matzo balls, 16,000 gallons of chicken noodle soup, and 80,000 pounds of corned beef.

Nate’n Al’s has also become a local landmark with a large celebrity following. Larry King was an everyday regular, coming in every morning and if they didn’t see him by 8:20 they knew something was wrong. According to an article by the Hollywood Reporter Larry King said, “Nate’n Al’s was like walking into his mother’s house. We weren’t servers, we were friends there to make sure he got what he liked”. The family aspect of the restaurant is what I think has customers coming back every time. Founder Al Mendelson says, “If you want them in the booths, keep them off the walls.” Even with the uncertainty of the future, it is certain that they will forever be guided by their humble ideals of: “quality ingredients, service with heart, and food we’re proud to share with our friends”.
