Chokolatta

Andrea Maldonado, who is a Mexico City native, opened Chokolatta with her husband Oscar. Andrea started by making chocolate covered strawberries and her passion grew from there. According to the owners of Chokolatta, chocolate is meant to soothe the soul and was not meant to just be a candy. It is an art that has delighted palates for thousands of years. As a family-owned business, one of their top priorities is to make everyone feel at home when they are inside.

Chokolatta has all kinds of delicious treats for different tastes. They don’t only offer sugary sweets, they also offer sugar-free, gluten-free, and vegan desserts with all natural ingredients and no preservatives. We had a chance to talk to Andrea’s husband Oscar Maldonado. The questions we asked are below:

When did you open your first location?

We opened our first location in North Hollywood in January 2015.

When did you open the Beverly Hills locations?

Our Beverly Hills location first opened last year, September 2019.

How many locations do you have?

We currently have two locations. One in North Hollywood and the other right here in Beverly Hills.

What made you want to start Chokolatta?

My wife Andrea was craving chocolate and we love it. She was inspired by her friend’s making chocolate and decided to pursue it herself.

What is the most popular menu item?

We have a lot of popular items like our salted caramel, dulce de leche, chocolate caramel, and horchata bonbons. Our truffles, chocolate covered strawberries, and Nutella & banana crepes are also really popular.

What is your favorite menu item?

The choco flan!
